History

From Corporate Roots to Creative Catalyst The story of AFMI Productions began long before the cameras started rolling in Albuquerque. Founded by Carey Rose O’Connell, the company is built on a foundation of over 20 years of experience in corporate management, system analysis, and communications. In 2011, Carey Rose began transitioning her expertise toward entrepreneurship, eventually launching RoseBrand Consultation Services in 2017. What started as a brand marketing consultancy quickly found its heart in the New Mexico film community, where Carey Rose recognized a critical need: local independent creators had the stories, but they lacked the professional infrastructure and ownership presence to turn those stories into sustainable careers.

The Birth of the Incubator In 2022, Carey Rose launched the proof-of-concept for the Albuquerque Film and Media Incubator (AFMI). The goal was simple but ambitious: to provide a "gap education" that offered accessible, multigenerational training and shared resources for filmmakers. The overwhelming community response confirmed that the mission was necessary. By 2023, the brand officially evolved into two distinct but synergistic entities: the Incubator, focused on workforce development, and AFMI Productions, LLC, a full-service creative production house.

Bridging the Gap Today Today, AFMI Productions serves as a premier production partner in the Southwest. We have grown from a consulting project into a localized ecosystem that provides everything from project packaging and "on-the-ground" production support to strategic sales acquisition. By blending high-level business acumen with a passion for independent storytelling, we continue to help New Mexicans move from being participants in the industry to becoming owners and stakeholders in their own creative futures.
