History

With over 20 years of experience in the film and television industry, Carey Rose O'Connell has established herself as a cornerstone of the New Mexico film ecosystem. Her career is defined by a commitment to the "Five Fundamentals" of production, ensuring that independent creators don't just make films, but build businesses.

As the founder of AFMI Productions, Carey specializes in Project Packaging and Investor Relations, helping filmmakers navigate the complexities of New Mexico’s 40% film tax credits and the regional production landscape. Her deep-rooted expertise in the Southwest market led to her role as an Acquisition Consultant for Disrupt Entertainment, where she identifies high-potential feature films for global distribution.

Beyond production, Carey is the architect behind The Incubator, a tuition-free Producer Training Program designed to foster localized ownership and professionalize the independent sector in Albuquerque and beyond. Her mission is clear: to provide the infrastructure that allows Southwest storytellers to thrive on a global stage.
